This not only has caused a multitude of outages, but unfortunately also means that some player’s character data was lost in the regional-to-global database transfer. There isn’t a single reasoning or cause behind the issues, but the meat and potatoes of it all is that an unexpectedly high amount of player traffic post-launch has caused multiple server overloads. Adam Fletcher, Community Manager at Blizzard Entertainment, has since released a forum post explaining why the problems are happening, and the active plans as the studio to fix them. Although the game itself has been critically and commercially well-received, earning an 80/100 on Metacritic, fans have been frustrated with the overwhelming amount of server issues that have been riddled in the online experience. Over 20 years ago, Diablo II took the world by storm, but it was only a few weeks ago when Blizzard Entertainment launched the remaster and expansion of the game, Diablo II: Resurrected.
